Solo project made with a premade 2.5D side-scroller character controller.
DESCRIPTION
This is a project inspired from a job opening for PlayDead, the developers of INSIDE and LIMBO. This therefore takes heavy inspiration from both games with me creating all the level design, art assets and level functionality outside of the core character controller functionality and additional textures.



LEVEL DESIGN
The level design focuses on teaching the player the necessary mechanics required, allowing them to be able to complete the higher difficulty sections that appear later in the level.
The core gameplay revolves around staying out the light to avoid detection, a mechanic heavily inspired from PlayDead's game, INSIDE.
After a simple platforming section, the player learns the box dragging mechanic, before reaching the first guard. After passing without being detected by the light, the player then encounters multiple guards inside the box facility. They need to avoid the light whilst also pushing a box to allow them to reach a ladder, resulting in their escape. One final guard notices the player and chases them to a cliff edge, where the player can jump across and complete this demo.
